Tate`s Place in Portage

Great breakfast with big portions with eating outside a bonus. Never disappointed and their homemade bread with nuts and raisins is the bomb!

This is my mom's favorite place to take me when I go to visit her. The staff greets her by name and knows what her "regular" order is. The waffles are the best I've ever had (and I've had a lot of waffles). Claudia is a delight of a waitress and you'll be lucky to have her serve you.

Had a friend in from Michigan and Saturday I recommended Tate's for lunch and BAM!! This is now officially my favorite spot in the region! Nice traveled to many states and I'd have to say this place has reasonable prices very healthy servings(I was so full)!!!!. And the food is beyond delicious! Nnthis is by far my favorite place from now on .... If you haven't already been to Tate's you're not living life man lol!! Oh and Kelly our server was awesome and a one of a kind!! They broke the mold when they made her!! 🤟🤟🤟

I had a Chicken Philly Sandwich which was very heavy and unfortunately not very flavourful. We also ordered a country fried steak which looked very hearty. I also had a hot chocolate which was good, but I left the place not feeling great.

The pot roast was phenomenal as was the service. I loved the white bean soup, and side of bread too.. I've eaten here before and it was amazing then too. Been here several times everything is amazing that I've had, fast service , friendly service

This was our first time and very impressed. We ordered three different items and all were very good. The amount of food for the price was excellent and service was better than many other places. We will definitely return.

This place is excellent. Live the food the staff is some of the best I've seen friendly fast. Never an empty cup of coffee. Food is fast hot and very good. Have a lot of favorites off the menu . It's a must try

Food was tasty. I ordered ham and cheese omelet it was loaded with ham and the hashbrowns were crispy all for under $10.

This restaurant is a family favorite! Love the raisin walnut bread.

Eggs were undercooked with runny egg whites... Hash browns were barely seared and not hot it warm... Muffin was mushy in the middle... Toast was good...

We visited for the first time today as we travel back home. It was definitely one of the best stops we have ever made.The country fried steak I had was incredible. The raisin bread that came.with my wife's breakfast was very good as well. The portions are big, but the prices are not. The staff was absolutely friendly. This is going to be a regular stop for us going forward.

It was delicious and the service was great!

I had the pot roast special and it was simply delicious. The meat was so tender you could cut it with your fork and the carrots were cooked to just the right amount of firm and the potato salad was an unexpected pleasant surprise. The servers are friendly and efficient and make you feel like family. Win win.

The food and service was pretty good I was a little nervous when I first arrived because of the location and everyone in the place was white not that that's a problem but I feel more comfortable when there's at least a couple of faces like mines. My companion and I enjoyed ourself and made plans to return, the staff was pretty nice we googled a location and took a chance I'm happy to say it paid off

I'm visiting from out of town. Staying at my Uncle and his wife's for the night. I didn't want to make them fix me breakfast so I took off to find a place and found this one. There was no wait for me at the time that I went for breakfast! The guy that sat me was so nice! Got my drink order right away. Claudia was my server and she was great! I got a Spinach and Feta Omelet with Fruit and Rye toast. It came out so fast and hot! Delicious! And the fruit was fresh!! I observed how fast they came to clean tables. One or two servers cleared it and a third person wipes it down. So efficient! I will definitely come back here when visiting my Uncle! :)

Took my out-town visitors to Tate's yesterday for lunch. They Loved it and all gave a 5 star rating. The chicken cordon bleu was the best. Not dry as chic sometimes is. Very flavorful. Delicious, cheesy cheeseburger. The tomato bisque soup was delicious! Should have gotten a bigger bowl. The waffle fries were perfect, neither greasy nor dry. Very good salad with terrific assortment of veggies. Caesar dressing was perfect. My friends said they want to go again when they're in town. I know I will certainly go again. Excellent, clean restroom. Parking right outside door. The wait staff was friendly and prompt. Pretty much everything you could ask for in a local lunch.

Tate’s place is fantastic! Service was phenomenal. When we mentioned something about being out of town our server gave us recommendations on things to do and see! The food was awesome and portions were good!

Being vegan I am limited to where I can eat. It was great to have a big plate of fresh fruit along with my hash browns! FYi...that was the small plate! Can't imagine what the full plate looks like!

Very good first experience!! My fiance and I decided to give it a try and see what all the fuss is about, I must say it was very good. Little to no wait. Prices are very reasonable. The server Claudia was very nice and polite. She was very friendly too. She even said "hi" to a little girls imaginary friends. Definitely a place we will return to.

Delicious food. Courteous and polite wait staff. Cute atmosphere. But I have one major complaint which I why there are 4 stars & not 5. Both times I have been there, your hostess staff is so unbelievably unprofessional, its shocking. They act like the front desk is their personal hang out. I walked in today & a girl was swinging a broom and flinging floor debris all over like it was funny & did that right at us when we walked in. The entire meal I could hear them laughing & talking about personal things and it continued as we paid. The two girls there just continued their conversation while we were checking out. And the employee eating area is the wait area? That is not appealing to a customer at all.The hostess staff needs some major training in customer service & how to behave in a place of business in front of the customer, however, I'm surprised an owner or manager did not correct this behavior.

Great food and friendly staff! Outdoor patio was very nice. On our way back to the patio we did walk within close proximity to other tables. While masks are mandatory, it might be best to fill patio seating from outside instead of througu the dining room.

Today was my 1st time going to Tate's Place. I was thoroughly surprised! The food was great! The prices were unbelievable! We sat outside & enjoyed the warm weather! It was unbelievably incredible! The only thing is, they are only open from 7am-2 or 3pm! So go enjoy there this place while you can! The food is incredible! So are the people!😉👍

Soup salad sand... Tuna had no flavor. But soups were awesome. Salad was huge

Always great service! Country fried steak was delightful. Tender and blends well with the gravy. Hash browns are soft with a little crunch on top. Sausage of choice here would be links over patty's. Toast comes with a lot of butter so beware. Great food overall

Always a GREAT experience, food is always fresh, always right and always super quick. The waitstaff is friendly, upbeat and have been there for a long time which to me shows that the owners treat their employees well.

We always stop for breakfast or lunch when we are on the bike path. The food is excellent always fresh. They have an excellent menu and is priced right I just love this place.
